The following represents JWV's official resolution on Jonathan Pollard, as adopted by the general membership at the 95th National Convention, in August, 1990.

"The case of Jonathan Pollard has again surfaced. The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia is currently considering a motion for withdrawal of Pollard's plea of guilty that landed him in jail for life. Should the court grant the petition, Pollard would be entitled to another trial of the charges against him."

"JWV asks that the case be re-examined and that Pollard's sentence be consistent with the long history of lenient sentences for defendants who were found to be spying for allies of America. JWV expresses support for 'full, open and fair hearings' and punishment consistent with that given in similar cases."

J4JP Comment:

This resolution, was an expression of grass roots sentiment. Not surprisingly, the JWV's leadership has done everything it could to suppress the existence of this document, no doubt embarrassed to be so out of touch with their membership.
