Dear Mr. President:

In these last days of your presidency, we turn to you on behalf of the constituency of the Simon Wiesenthal Center to urge you to invoke clemency for Jonathan Pollard. As we have communicated with you in the past, Mr. Pollard was guilty of spying for Israel and has admitted his guilt and responsibility. His long term in jail has sent the necessary message to the State of Israel and to Mr. Pollard, and now would be the appropriate time for this significant humanitarian gesture.

With best wishes to you and your family in the New Year.

Sincerely,

(signed) Rabbi Marvin Hier, Dean and Founder
