Aaron Lerner - May 31, 2000

The following is IMRA's translation of a message sent to Prime Minister Barak by the Knesset Lobby for Jonathan Pollard, as Mr. Barak prepares to meet with President Clinton in Europe tomorrow on June 1:

To Mr. Ehud Barak
Prime Minister and Minister of Defense
Jerusalem

May 31, 2000

URGENT!

Shalom rav! (Warm Greetings)

You are about to meet with the President of the United States, Mr. Bill Clinton, and we expect that in the agenda set for your discussion, you will not forget to raise the ultimate demand for the immediate release of Jonathan Pollard.

Reliable information has reached us that a key Senator has recently examined Jonathan Pollard's classified file. He summed up his examination of the file saying, "There is nothing in the file which justifies the harsh sentence that Jonathan Pollard is serving."

We expect you to return from this important meeting, once and for all, with an explicit commitment for the immediate release of Jonathan Pollard.

With blessing,
(signed)
MK Rechavam Ze'evi
Head of the Knesset Lobby for Pollard
