Pollard Bandwagon

The Forward - City Desk - September 24, 1999

Now that Jonathan Pollard is the latest pawn in the New York political world, activists are urging Hillary Rodham Clinton to help the convicted spy. The founder of the Jewish Action Alliance, Beth Gilinsky issued an open letter to Mrs. Clinton, appealing to the first lady's inherent sense of justice in pleading Pollard's case. Ms. Gilinsky, who was recently heckled in Harlem when she took to the streets mocking hate-monger Khalid Abdul Muhammad joins Mr. Hikind in concentrating on Mrs. Clinton rather than on the president, who decides issues of executive clemency. Ms. Gilinsky also echoed arguments made last week by public advocate Mark Green, who wrote to President Clinton regarding Pollard.
