Dear President Clinton:

I would like to draw your attention to the enclosed resolution (below) recently passed by the New Jersey General Assembly expressing its overwhelming support for the commutation of Jonathan J. Pollard's life sentence.

As you know, I feel very strongly about this issue, and believe that New Jersey's resolution reinforces the sentiment that support for Mr. Pollard's case crosses all cultural and political lines. Growing numbers of people understand that the severity of Mr. Pollard's sentence far exceeds those given to others convicted of similar crimes.

As you consider this issue, please take into account my view and that of thousands of New Jersey citizens who feel that it is indeed time for the commutation of Jonathan J. Pollard's sentence.

Sincerely,

(signed)
Jim Saxton
Member of Congress
