U.S. President Barack Obama is planning to grant Israeli President Shimon Peres the presidential medal of freedom.

We urge you to sign the petition below, which states:

To the Honorable President of the State of Israel, Mr. Shimon Peres,

RE: On-going efforts to secure the release of Jonathan Pollard

We would like to express our thanks and to strengthen your hands on your decision to make a personal and heart-rending request to President Obama asking him to commute the sentence of Jonathan Pollard to time-served on a humanitarian basis.

Out of great fear for Jonathan's health and out of a desire to see him live out the remainder of his life as a free man, we are asking you to employ your extraordinary diplomatic skills and your close relationship to President Obama to work intensively and without delay for the immediate release of Jonathan, before you receive the medal. We believe that you are the right person who can find the way to save Jonathan's life.
