Mounting Concern Over Pollard's Health

Avraham Weissman - Hamodia [Front Page, print edition] - August 9, 2011

NEW YORK Jonathan Pollard spent Erev Tishah B'Av his 57th birthday in a North Carolina prison cell, desperately ill with food poisoning.

Pollard, who underwent emergency surgery last week, was in excruciating agony after the prison medical staff despite written instructions from the civilian doctor who performed the surgery refused to give him pain medication, or post-op care.

In a conversation with Hamodia, Jonathan's wife, Mrs. Esther Pollard, indicated that her husband's pain was so bad that prison staff (not associated with the prison health services) intervened to advocate for her husband with the prison medical staff to obtain medication for him. Unfortunately the one dose of pain medication that he was given was not dispensed appropriately and caused a bad reaction. Klal Yisrael is asked to continue to daven for Yehonoson Ben Malkah.
