The Justice for Jonathan Pollard organization, refusing to let up on its drive for his freedom, has announced a call-the-White-House campaign, scheduled to end when PM Netanyahu visits Obama in Washington next week.

Organizers say that if Pollard is not freed by then, calls should continue daily until he is free.

Pollard has been imprisoned for nearly

25 years

in an American federal jail, after having been convicted on one count of passing classified information to an ally - namely, Israel. The average sentence for the crime is 2-4 years, whereas Pollard was sentenced to life.

"Everyone is urged to participate in this worldwide grassroots effort starting today," the J4JP organization announced, "by calling the White House daily, every day intensively from July 1st through July 6th, to urge President Barack Obama to send Jonathan Pollard home to Israel."

The numbers to dial are 202-456-1414 or 202-456-1111, and supporters are asked to call between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM EST. "Tell the President that releasing Jonathan Pollard would be the consummate act of friendship towards the People of Israel," the organization states. "Ask the President to please send Jonathan Pollard home with Mr. Netanyahu."

Specifically, Obama is asked to inscribe his "principled signature on Jonathan Pollards pending clemency papers Twenty five years is a long time. Please send Jonathan home with Mr. Netanyahu now."
