Jonathan Pollard Reacting To Prayer Rally Report: I Am Humbled

J4JPnews - January 6, 2009

Thousands upon thousands of people, from all walks of life and representing every shade of the religious spectrum, poured into the Kotel plaza late this afternoon to pray for the release of Jonathan Pollard.

The prayer rally was organized by The Committee to Bring Jonathan Pollard Home and coordinated by Rabbi Asher Mivtzari, with the blessing of His honor the former Chief Rabbi of Israel, HaRav Mordechai Eliyahu, shlita.

Nissan GanOr, the head of the Committee, spoke with Jonathan Pollard immediately following the event and gave Jonathan personal blessings and warm wishes from the over-flow crowd which packed the Western Wall plaza. "We stormed the gates of Heaven for you, Jonathan!" GanOr told him. "We love you and we want to see you home very soon!"

Esther Pollard told her husband that she was amazed at the turnout. She said, "People just kept pouring into the plaza! They went directly to where the organized prayer sheets were being handed out and stood patiently waiting to receive the prayer sheets from the numerous volunteers who were distributing them." Esther reported that both Chief Rabbis of Israel and many prominent rabbonim attended the event and led the overwhelmingly large crowd in prayers for Jonathan over the loudspeaker.

The Committee to Bring Jonathan Pollard Home distributed a special order of prayers for Jonathan, as well as prayers for the Wholeness of the Land of Israel, prayers for all of Israel's soldiers, and special prayers for all of Israel's MIAs and Captives.

After the rally was over, a prominent rabbi congratulated the organizers and told Rabbi Mivtzari: "This rally just underscores the importance of Jonathan Pollard and his great merit." Asked to explain, the rabbi said: "This prayer rally was meant to be for Jonathan alone, at a very delicate and critical time, just before President Bush leaves office. Therefore, it was solely because of Jonathan that we all came together to pray en mass today. Because we were here for Jonathan, we had the opportunity to offer special prayers for all of Israel's soldiers and for the welfare of the entire country. It was Jonathan who facilitated all the rest of those prayers! Without Jonathan, there would have been no rally, no mass prayers, no storming of the Heavens, which is so sorely needed at this time of war and sorrow. Even from prison, Jonathan's merit was enough to bring out thousands and thousands of people to pray -- not only for him, but for all of Israel!"

Jonathan Pollard responded to the outpouring of prayers and good wishes on his behalf, telling his wife: "I am amazed...and I am humbled. Baruch HaShem! G-d bless the People of Israel!"

The public is encouraged to continue praying for Jonathan and calling the White House daily.
