Deputy Minster Noked Calls for Pressure on US to Free Pollard - May 8, 2005

Deputy Minister to the Vice Premier (Labor) Orit Noked stated today that information pertaining to the deplorable prison conditions of Jonathan Pollard demand that we act towards obtaining his release.

She stated American involvement in the disengagement plan and ongoing negotiations towards release of terrorists by Israel dictate Israel demand Pollard's release by America in a return gesture to Israel.

( Azzam Azzam, who was released from a maximum Egyptian security prison a number of months ago, identifies with the suffering of Jonathan Pollard.

Azzam, who was convicted of spying for Israel and America, was imprisoned for years in a hard-labor, maximum-security Egyptian prison.
