Text: Jonathan Pollard's Letter to Sharon Responding to P.M.'s Declaration:
Israel Making All Efforts To Free Pollard

Justice4JP Release - September 27, 2004

To Prime Minister Sharon
From Jonathan Pollard
Via Facsimile September 27, 2004

Dear Prime Minister Sharon,

RE: Your Interview on IDF Radio September 24, 2004

Your statement to IDF Radio on the eve of Yom Kippur - admirable on the face of it - simply does not jibe with reality.

According to the Jerusalem Post report 09/26/04:

Israel is making all possible diplomatic efforts to secure the release…of Jonathan Pollard, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told Army Radio in an interview broadcast Friday. "There has not been one tour of mine in the US in which this issue has not been brought up," the prime minister said… "I have brought this issue up in all of my meetings in the US and I have not missed one opportunity to solve this issue,"… Sharon made clear that "every effort needs to be made to gain his freedom, and we are making these efforts."

Mr. Prime Minister, if it is true that you are making every effort to secure my release, could you explain to me and to the Nation why:

In conclusion: it is obvious in light of the above that your statement to IDF radio simply does not jibe with reality.

After watching you move Heaven and Earth to secure the speedy release of Elchanan Tanenbaum, it is clear that when you want to get a prisoner home, you know how to do it.

So, Mr. Sharon, on the eve of the 20th anniversary of my incarceration, please explain to me: if you are doing so much to secure my release, why am I still in prison?
