Subject: Re: Fw: Senate Letter to Clinton
I know that you are trying to help, and we do appreciate it. To be very honest with you, I am stunned at the response you received from your Democratic contact, Dr. Mark Zober.
My husband, Jonathan Pollard, is in his 19th year of a life sentence for an offense that carries a median sentence of 2 to 4 years largely because of a subverted legal process, supported by false charges leveled at Jonathan continuously in every public forum, but never in a court of law where he could challenge them --just like the false charges and lies raised in the Senate Letter signed
by John Kerry and other senators in 1999.
To suggest that those of us who seek equal justice for Jonathan would make up a letter that is this damaging for Jonathan, and that we would recirculate it as a "political dirty trick" is simply stunning.
Dr. Zober's suggestion that we may have invented the Senate letter as a dirty trick and that it never existed is nothing more than a weak and irresponsible way to duck the issue. Just because he is unaware of this letter, does not give him license to add insult to injury by denying that it ever existed or that Mr. Kerry signed it. Nor does it mitigate the kind of damage that the letter continues to do to both Jonathan and Israel. He does Mr. Kerry no credit with this kind of representation.
Our web copy is a text reprint of the original. If Dr. Zober would like an original copy, he knows where to find it, in the Senate Records.
