Dear Jonathan:
We have received the e-mailed Open Letter to the American Jewish Leaders who participated in a May 31st Working Dinner with President George W. Bush. B'nai B'rith International is unwavering in our continuing support for your release.
For your information and records, we enclose the letter B'nai B'rith International sent to President Bush on April 25, 2001, calling for your release. In mid-June we received confirmation from the Counsel to the President that the letter was received and was forwarded to the Justice Department for review and recommendation.
Subsequently, a letter has arrived from Roger C. Adams, Pardon Attorney, U.S. Department of Justice. Mr. Adams' letter includes the following statement: "Mr. Pollard does not presently have a pending request for commutation of sentence, but we will retain your letter for inclusion in his clemency file should he reapply in the near future." We thought we should make you aware of this.
With every good wish,
Sincerely,
(Signed)
Richard
